POSITION SUMMARY:
Current Opening: One part-time position.
The Speech Therapist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. The therapist will develop personalized treatment plans, implement therapy sessions, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and families to enhance patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech and language abilities.
- Diagnose Communication and swallowing disorders based on assessment results.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Provide direct therapy to patients in various settings (e.g. hospital inpatient, outpatient, or virtual).
- Follows the policies of Powell Valley Healthcare.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to improve communication skills.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals and family members to coordinate care and support.
- Provide training and resources to caregivers and staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes in the electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Prepare reports for referrals, insurance claims and compliance purposes. Accurately enter codes for billing purposes.
- Stay updated on advancements in the field of speech-language pathology and participate in continuing education opportunities and professional organizations.
- Work with scheduling and radiology to perform outpatient procedures as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
- 2 years of experience in providing speech language pathology services
- Current Wyoming licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Typing and computer skills (required).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software products
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in using technology and therapy tools.
- Operate and utilize office computer systems, copy machine, fax machine, ten-key, text, and other basic office equipment.
- Calm, patient, and compassionate.
- Always maintain confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly lifting or move objects weighing 10 to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, walking, standing, and working with equipment.
- The employee is also subject to exposure to blood and body fluids, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives, exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.
