POSITION SUMMARY:
Current Opening: One PRN position (day and evening shifts)
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, and in compliance with Federal, State regulations, and Powell Valley Healthcare (PVHC) policy and procedure, the Food Services Worker will provide food services and related services to long term care residents, hospital patients and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist cooks and co-workers in preparing, serving and delivering meals and beverages to hospital and long term care residents as well as staff
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, silverware and cooking equipment adhering to sanitation guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and carts in accordance with sanitation guidelines
- Complete all cleaning assignments
- Portion food according to menu standards when serving food and beverages
- Provide excellent customer service by answering phones in a timely, polite manner and assisting others in a gracious, positive way
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
- Maintain confidentiality
- Assist in training new employees
- Take and record food and equipment temperatures and taking corrective action when necessary
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Good customer service skills
- Work closely with a diverse population remaining calm, respectful and helpful
- Read and interpret simple instructions and documents such as menus, diet cards, diet sheets, patient menus, preparation lists and policy manuals
- Respond appropriately to requests from customers, to read, write and speak effectively
- Add and subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Maintain confidential information
- Apply common sense in order to carry out instructions written and oral form
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Typically standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
- Frequent lifting of light objects
- Frequent lifting of objects weighing 25 to 50 pounds
- Use of tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
- Work is performed in kitchen/dining areas, patient care areas and in storage areas
- Work is performed in a very noisy area
