POSITION SUMMARY:
Current Opening: One full or part-time position.
Compliance Officer initiates and promotes compliance throughout Powell Valley Healthcare, (PVHC). Is responsible for the day-to-day operational responsibility of the compliance program.
Candidate will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive compliance program, incorporating the seven elements of an effective compliance across all healthcare operations. Directs or coordinates investigations into violations of laws, regulations, and policies, ensuring appropriate corrective actions and reporting to enforcement agencies as needed. Establishes and refines system wide compliance policies, proactive auditing practices, and education programs to promote compliance and privacy awareness. Seeking a candidate with a minimum of 3-5 years of healthcare experience. Required associate’s degree in business administration, healthcare management, or a related field bachelors preferred. CHPA or CHC certification required or ability to obtain within a year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attends PVHC Board meetings, at least quarterly.
- Supports and reviews educational materials and in-house training seminars to ensure appropriate regulatory interpretations. Coordinates all training and education related to compliance throughout the facility.
- Reviews all policies and procedures regarding compliance related activities to ensure consistency and compliance throughout the organization.
- Responds to questions, issues, and reports of potential compliance issues.
- Oversees the investigation of any issues of non-compliance and implements appropriate corrective action.
- Interacts with CEO and/or legal counsel to discuss organization’s action plan on compliance.
- Oversees compliance monitoring processes including internal auditing (through Committee) among the various departments and service areas.
- Develops corrective action plans to address non-compliance in the various departments and service areas.
- Provides an annual report to the Board and assists the Board in establishing annual goals.
- Responsible for updating and revising the program as appropriate.
- Meets with the Compliance Committee on a regular basis to ensure the compliance process is functioning as required and to implement modifications to the compliance program.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicare and third-party payer coding and billing requirements.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Read and interpret a variety of policy and procedure manuals, requisitions, and test results written in English.
- Strong analytical skills to direct the Compliance Committee.
- Speak and write effectively in order to communicate quickly with co-workers in the hospital in a variety of situations.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
